Beach Fire Foil Packets

Cook the limit where you dug it

  • 20 min
  • Easy
  • Per packet

Ingredients

  • 4–5 cleaned razor clams per packet
  • Butter, garlic, lemon slices
  • Baby potatoes (pre-boiled) and corn chunks
  • Heavy-duty foil
  • Salt, pepper, parsley

Method

  1. Double-layer foil; pile in potatoes, corn, clams, butter, garlic, lemon.
  2. Seal tight with a flat fold — steam is the cooking engine.
  3. Onto campfire coals (not flames) or a grill, 8–10 minutes.
  4. Listen for the sizzle; give it 2 more minutes after that.
  5. Open carefully — the steam is volcanic. Eat from the foil.

Tip. Check fire regulations and always cook above the wrack line. Pack out everything.

Start with how to clean a razor clam if your clams are still in the shell. Washington's daily limit is the first 15 you dig, so most recipes here are sized for one limit or less.

Dig them first.

DigTide tells you the minute a dig is approved, then shows the window to be on the sand.
